This lip was directly inspired by the legendary Brabus front spoiler — a rare and aggressive design that elevated the look of the original SLs. But here’s the problem:

Original Brabus lips were not only ultra-rare, they were also only made for early model bumpers or the AMG sport variants, making them virtually incompatible with facelift, non-sport R129s.

That’s where this project started. I wanted to bring that iconic Brabus look to the often-overlooked facelift SLs with standard bumpers. With careful attention to detail and a deep love for the platform, I’ve reimagined this front lip spoiler for a perfect, OEM-style fitment on 1996–2001 R129s with standard bumpers.

Why I Created This

As an R129 owner and enthusiast myself, I always found it frustrating that certain aftermarket options were only available to a small subset of cars in the R129 lineup. The facelift cars with standard bumpers, while more common, have been under-served in the aftermarket space.

Many of us own facelift SL500s or SL600s that didn’t come with the sport package — and until now, there weren’t many high-quality options available for those bumpers. Rather than waiting around for someone else to build it, I decided to make it myself — using the latest in 3D scanning, digital modeling, and prototyping to bring this design to life.

The result is something I’m genuinely proud of — and it’s only the beginning.
